I had the snicker doodle latte. It was delicious! Just what I needed and a great balance of sweet and bitter. I also got a giant cookie, which was good as well. The server was very nice and gave me a good recommendation when trying to decide between sweet and not so sweet balanced drink. I'll be back!

The perfect homey cafe/bakery for a long curl-up in the corner read with a latte, or a quick breeze through for a pick-me-up. I was lucky enough to snag the last vegan lemon cupcake; what a treat! A caffe with decent baked good open after 6pm is my dream!

Nice coffee shop. Good vibe. I had the home made bagel. Hot out of the oven. I will be back the next time I am in town. I want to try other offerings next time.

Delicious coffee and great looking bakery items. Had their creme brûlée latte and it was delightful. Atmosphere inside isn't what I expected and is different than other cafes. Not bad, just not my style!

Sweet Marlays is a local favorite of mine! I have been going here since they opened and not once have I been disappointed. They have an amazing selection of teas and coffee drinks, hot and cold, and are the place to go for caffeination and relaxation. My personal favorite is the Fighting Latte, yum! They constantly have new and exciting pastries in the case, including vegan and gluten free options. The chill atmosphere is perfect for a place to meet up with friends or to read a book.

Didn't appear dirty at all, although the service was not particularly fast. I went in a group of three, and none of us were impressed with our coffee drinks at all. However, the baked items were delicious.

Sweet Marlay's is a sweet little coffee shop with an excellent downtown location-- perfect for beautiful sunny days when you want to sit outside and enjoy a caffienated beverage and/or yummy treat. I like that I can bring my two rambunctious kiddos inside with me and not receive evil glares by the folks behind the counter. They are always sweet and polite when my 6 year old wants to order her own treat from the pastry selection, even when she is fumbling through her words. They use to have toys and things for little ones but have since done away with that-- it would be cool if they had a Kid Friendly area but I don't hold it against them that they don't! The overall decor and atmoshphere is cute. I think it could be a bit better, but they have come a long way from where they started. I always order an Iced Beach Day Latte and haven't tried much of what else they have to offer. Friends rave about the Choffee. My husband isn't much of a fan of any of their drinks, unfortunately (even the regular brewed coffee). Their pastries tend to be hit or miss. If you like grocery store cupcakes, I would recommend to go for something other than the Sweet Marlay cupcakes. My kids have ordered them numerous times and never like them... Unfortunately I tend to agree as I always try them before throwing them out. Other things, though, like chocolate covered pretzels, cookies, merengues, etc. have always been very good. Prices for specialty drinks are just a bit steep. I use to come every week but had to stop because I tend to spend more on just a coffee drink here than I do even at Starbucks. Fortunately they have a stamp card so you eventually get a drink for free. Overall, I am a fan of Sweet Marlay's and am glad they are in Downtown Daytona!

The lavender coffee was good. However, the vibe and atmosphere of this place wasn't for me.

Super cool ambiance & their coffee/teas are delicious. The only thing preventing a 5 star review is that they always seem short staffed- which makes it take up to 5 minutes to get a single drink.

I love Milk Tea with Bubbles. I don't know why, I just do. They don't have any of my favorite flavors at Sweet Marleys, but they do have Taro, which is one of my standbys. A good Taro milk tea with taste a lot like butter pecan. A lower quality taro will taste like the leftover milk at the bottom of the bowl after you've finished eating your cereal. This milk tea tasted like the latter. Oh well, I will return at some point since they use really good bubbles and they know how to cook them.

Was driving back home to Vero Beach and decided to check for coffee shops in this area. Other reviews convinced me to stop in, and boy am I glad. Great espresso, and just as the other reviews said the mocha drinks are made with real Ghiradelli chocolate. The shop itself is right along a nice shopping strip across from the river, and the decor and atmosphere are nice and cozy. Will definitely have to remember this place for future travels through Daytona.

Yummy treats and comfortable atmosphere. The coffee is great (smooth and not too acidic). Everyone was very friendly. I'm just here on vacation but if I were a local here I would frequent this place. I gave this place 5 stars for the coffee. Seriously the best coffee I have had in a long time.

Employees are always friendly, coffee is excellent and food is good. I always stop by for an espresso and coffee when in town. My favorite coffee spot to date.

I wanted to like this place. I was excited to see a coffee shop on Beach street and much prefer to support local businesses. I bypassed Starbucks to check them out. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. I just got a plain cup of coffee. It was tasteless. I'm not sure where they get their coffee or how they brew it but it taste like poor quality coffee. No aroma, no flavor. I complained and they made me an Americana( an expression mix). That was no better. Sad. I will stick to Starbucks.

The Almond Joy and Creme Brulee lattes were very well done. Nice location and view. If you don't want the same old Starbucks, this is the place to go.

I think it's great that Beach Street has an independent little coffee shop (as opposed to the Starbucks that seem tucked into every plaza every where you look...which...no offense to Starbucks, they make a mean dirty chai! It's just nice to see a non-corporate entity every once in a while). I have been to Sweet Marlays several times and while I've never had a really mind blowing experience there, I can't say that I have ever been disappointed, either. They've got the standard coffee house beverages, as well as some non-dairy items, and some specialty drinks as well. They've also got bubble tea, which is also a lot of fun, although it seems to me that they've been out of the boba (which is sort of essential) on more than one occasion. There's a bakery case with cookies and scones and biscotti and cupcakes, and usually a few vegan items as well. On our last visit I ordered a café au lait and what the server set down in front of me was just a plain cup of coffee. She fixed it right away, but I hate that. I always feel like I am the one in the wrong when I have to ask someone in a restaurant to fix something that's wrong with my order. I think it's probably because I don't like speaking up for myself and then I feel really resentful when I actually have to do it. Oh well, that's my issue, not Sweet Marlay's, and everyone's allowed to make a mistake. We sat with our coffees and our dark chocolate biscotti and played cards while the rain beat down on the awning just outside our window. For as awful as the weather was today, there seemed to be a lot of people in the cafe. They must do a pretty good business. I do wish they'd have more sweetener options for the coffee and tea - agave, splenda, stevia, etc? They had raw sugar and that artificial sweetener in the blue packet, but who even uses that anymore. I also wish they'd have a different sort of music playing, but maybe I guess I am being overly picky. I just can't relax with Katy Perry bellowing at me about god knows what. Give it a rest, lady.

This coffee shop is charming! We ran in for a pick-me-up for our trip back to Orlando and left happy. Just one friendly Barista in site, but she whipped up quality coffee drinks quickly. My amaretto latte was excellent (next time I'll get cherry added! Yum!) and my husband had an iced latte completed with coffee ice cubes. I don't get why major coffee shops don't already serve their beverages with coffee ice cubes?? Who wants watered down coffee on a hot day? Anyway, if you're looking for a place to chill out or to grab a quick drink, this is your place!

Stopped in and ended up hanging out here at the outside tables during the air show. Great pastries, and cookies. The coffee was excellent. Can't wait to bring the rest of my family down for coffee and dessert. Will be back soon.

Surprising find in an otherwise coffee wasteland of a state! Got an iced almond milk latte and a whole milk hot Cappuccino. While I wouldn't consider it too tier coffee, it definitely beats a trip to the SB.

Quality coffee and atmosphere. Great, fresh roasted coffee beans for sale, too. Try the mermaid blend.

One of our new fav spots. Has the intimate feel of a small business. The sweets seem to be 'home made'.... The Choc chip cookie was excellent! Iced coffee was tasty! We always goto Starbucks, but when I'm in Daytona --- we'll be going here. Barista was friendly. We sat had played chess while sipping coffee. It was a fun evening!!!

Everything was delish! The gluten free chocolate cookies were a huge hit also!

Best place to just grab a cup of tea and relax. Great environment, awesome staff, and best of all, you're supporting local business.

Very clean, warm and welcoming environment. I loved the different desserts they had available. I got a PB&J cupcake and a Nutella Pastry to go. I'm wild about the PB&J Cupcake!! It was oh soooo good!! The nutella pastry was too flaky for my taste but I never had a puff pastry before so now I know I don't like them.

Oh yea, delicious cupcakes (caramel and sea salt). Great food and service. Was an awesome office snack break for the team

It was my first time in Sweet Marlay's and I like their selection of coffees, teas, and smoothies, as well as their selection of lunch foods and sweet treats. The barista was knowledgable and friendly. They have free wifi which is a plus. I like the homey feel of the cafe and I know they were going for more of an eclectic, antique feel, but I believe some of the furniture and fixtures begin to look too outdated. Some even cheapen the look of the restaurant, especially when there're holes in the chair cushions. I love their tin ceiling with dark walls and decor. I just wish they could update the furniture a bit- maybe cushioned banquets instead of the wooden pews, leather high top chairs at pub tables instead of the bar along the wall, oversized sofas where the coffee table is, and some matching updated dinette tables instead of the old laminate ones. Also, please vacuum! There was stuff sprinkled all over the carpet and the carpeted bench by the window. The pillows needed thrown in the washing machine too. I had the Hummus Platter which was hummus topped with kalamata olives, served with crostini and stuffed grape leaves. I quite enjoyed the platter; however, I was expecting toasted naan bread to dip in the hummus, instead of the crostini, because their menu on their website says it comes with naan bread. Well it's been several months since I suggested they update their online menu to reflect the changes, but the menu is still incorrect. I suggest not ordering anything over the phone to-go based on their online website without first confirming if the ingredients have changed. Sorry, I'm a stickler for inconsistencies! I've also had the spinach pie consisting of flakey pastry, spinach, olives, and feta. It was very reminiscent of spanakopita, which I love.

This was a cute, mom and pop coffee shop/bakery that had pretty tasty lattes and cupcakes. Actually, the Kahlua and Creme cupcake was fantastic!! They also had live music on Friday when we were there. Very cozy!

Went for breakfast and this is more of a coffee/danish type spot. They did offer a breakfast sandwich with egg, sausage, cheese on and english muffin.. was good, like something you would make at home and a way better choice then stopping at mcdonalds, it was around $3 something so a good value as well. I did order the guava and cheese pastry... it was more pastry than anything, tried to split w/my BF and his half had nothign and mine had a little bit of the filling... Id go back if I was in the area, had a nice charm to it and some other baked goodies to try.

I pre ordered cupcakes for my son's birthday. They were cute, but not too cute. Pick up time was pushed back which required an extra trip downtown at a later time. Cupcakes had no flavor, simply tasted like pure sugar. Extremely disappointing for a special order!

I finally switched from Barnes & Noble to Sweet Marlay's for my occasional been-staring-at-these-four-walls-too-long outing, and I wish I'd done it sooner. Not that I have anything against B&N, but I'd rather give my money to poor Beach Street's local businesses. It's a really nice space -- clean, cozy without being cramped, a variety of seating (benches, tables, armchairs), a couple chessboards and a mini-library. I usually go lateish, like 8-10, and it's usually busy enough to feel lively, but not so busy you can't find a seat or it's too loud to concentrate if you're reading or writing, even on Fri/Sat nights. The drinks are yummy but overpriced (hence the 4 stars -- I'd do 4.5 if I could), but let's face it, I can't remember the last time I was in a coffee shop where the drinks weren't overpriced. Place has kinda the vibe of a chilled-out Java Lava, for any of you other weirdo '90s Daytona kids -- only with fewer coke busts and underage girls out past curfew (aka me 15 years ago).

Coffee is average. If you like lattes and flavored coffees, it's better. Cute place wirh nice atmosphere. Cashier was friendly. Their regular coffee is too much water to coffee ratio which is a shame because the flavor is good... just watery.

I was a regular here while I was on my Winter break from up north. I have to say this coffee shop is the best one I have ever been to. Great everything! Their bubble tea is a must try, as well as their vegan cupcakes. Best coffee you'll get in Daytona. Hip and cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Awesome family owned and run business. Not just a coffee joint! You must try the desserts that are made on site! We go there ALL the time. You will never want to go to a big chain coffee shop again! They also support other local businesses and artists. There's local arts on the walls that you can purchase. Take a walk down beach street shops this weekend and stop in.. you will not regret it.. and I might even be there =)

Hands down the best coffee place in Daytona Beach!

  • Kim W.

This is a really cute place on Beach Street. It seems so unlike Daytona. I have tried it a couple of times. The iced mocha was delicious and was made with Ghiradelli chocolate. I also tried the chocolate vegan cupcake with "buttercream" frosting. You couldn't tell it was vegan. I know a lot of people are weird about those sort of things. The lemonade cupcake was moist and had a nice, real lemony taste. It also had a lemon curd inside. Definitely give Sweet Marlay's a try.

Ideally, a local coffee shop in Daytona has the potential to be awesome but unfortunately my experience was not good. I purchased a couple baked goods where the sign said made here, I was very excited about the variety but unfortunately was left unsatisfied. And for lack of a better word they tasted like they had been out for way too long and when I asked the barista ( who might I add had a very unprofessional look which included and off the shoulder work shirt) if these were fresh her response "freezer fresh" and if I wanted something from the freezer I would have gone to the publix freezer section. I also ordered a loose leaf iced tea were they seem to have a wide variety of flavors but again was left disappointed... It looked like water and I didn't order a light tea it was a black tea. This experience left me frustrated because this shop has potential and if I ever had the chance to speak with the owner I would have said-" If you are going to advertise that things are baked fresh everyday I suggest you actually put the product out when it's fresh and not when it's frozen. And I am embarrassed that you allow your employees to say freezer fresh and look the way she did and I would focus a little more on quality than variety because the quality just isn't there. However I will give the coffee shop another chance because I really enjoyed outside seating and the music.

Wish I had such a great experience like everyone else on here, Went to so excited for some great cupcakes, really wanted to try the PB&J one. My husband & I & our 3 kids went and were so disappointed we left and didn't get anything. They only had Vegan, wine & lavender cupcakes. Doesn't sound good to me or my cakes at all & the girl working didn't have a good attitude & wasn't helpful at all. & we stood there for 10 minutes before even being helped & never told Ill be right with you & it wasn't busy. Don't think I will be going back.

Great coffee spot. I always get the iced vanilla latte, which is consistently good. I've also tried the rasta cupcake which has pineapple in the middle. If your in Daytona skip the chain and try this place.

  • Ilene A.

AMAZING coffee shop!! My only regret is that they opened not long before I moved away from Daytona. The coffee ice cubes are inventive and unique and make their iced drinks taste delicious even after a few minutes in the hot Florida sun. This place is a must on Beach Street/Daytona. And don't forget to try some of the homemade desserts!

  • Mera A.

It's not the best, nor the worst. It's kind of cute, that's for sure. The ambiance is very chill and easygoing. Menu isn't the most diverse or interesting out there. It does carry soy and almond milk, big plus. Great for groups, dates, and for those loners out there.

Great place! I tried the choffy and loved it. Sweet Marlays is great for me because they have dairy- free latte options and sell awesome vegan cup cakes. We will drive out of our way from Jacksonville to Orlando just to stop at Sweet Marlays!

Better than Starbucks anyday! Super cute joint, with soft chairs, window seating cushions, games to play, Newspapers, etc. They have a nice "specialty" coffee menu, and any item can be served frozen, chilled (with coffee ice cubes), or hot. I had the Snikerdoodle Coffee - it was good but only if you like lots of cinnamon. I look forward to coming back and trying the Almond Joy coffee (chocolate, almond, and coconut).

  • Nastasha W.

Excellent coffee, excellent service, unique and innovative creations. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because I have only tried one product. After I try more I will alter my review. Try the new Southern Praline latte :0)

  • T N.

Excellent boba tea and good place to sit, relax, play games, play your guitar, study, etc. My favorite is the taro boba tea. They have a variety of coffee drinks, similar to most other coffee places. The turkey panini is good, not too small, not too big, and comes with chips. They have lots of electrical outlets, at almost every table, in case you need to plug in your laptop. Has outdoor seating which is very nice for enjoying the weather and if you want it to be a bit more peaceful.

Excellent coffee and biscotti! Our daughter loved the hot cider. We were tired of the same old Starbucks experience and decided to try something new in the area. We were pleasantly suppressed. The atmosphere was great and everything we tried was tasty. The staff were very friendly!

Nice, relaxed chill coffee house with tables and chairs and corner nook in the front with wing chairs. Good local coffee and homemade baked goods. Free wifi and local art displayed.Definitely a great local family coffee house

Enjoyed the latte and dessert-cheesecake and creampuffs, both homemade. Charming place to gather with friends and chat. Wasn't busy on a Saturday night and we had our coffee sitting on the sidewalk.

SLOW service. Barista made a mistake on both my husband's coffee order and the size of my tea. My husband (a coffee connoisseur) said the coffee tasted watered down. He initially ordered the French Press - pretty expensive for such a small amount of coffee (and it didn't taste good). He ended up asking the barista for just a regular cup of coffee - still not good. I had a scone which was dry. Cute place, but not what I had been hoping for.

This spot is amazing - great service, cozy atmosphere, locally roasted from St. Augustine. They use coffee ice cubes for their iced coffee, so your drink never gets watered down. Just wish I'd found it sooner on our vacation - I would've been a daily customer hands-down! Will definitely be back on our next trip to FL.

I am a frequent patron of Sweet Marlay's and I absolutely love it. They have awesome art, fun events like open mic night (which gets packed), and Front Porch Fridays. They have lots of different specialty coffee drinks (like Snickerdoodle latte-yummm) and delicious goodies! I haven't sampled everything, but there Tres Leche cake is amazing and their hummus is awesome. I'm a hard sale on hummus as I make my own, but there's was great and they even gave stuffed grape leaves to dip in the hummus. Sold!

I happened to stop in during the St. Patrick's Day festivities on Beach st and I can't wait to go back! The place is charming, inviting and relaxing. The desserts are great, so I'm predicting that the coffee's probably good too although I don't drink coffee so I'll have to leave that to someone else's judgement. The perfect little place to come get a drink and hang out with a friend or do some relaxing.

Super friendly. Great coffee which tasted fresh like it should. Visiting from California I wasn't expecting to find much (sorry) around but was delighted to find this gem. Very "ma and pa" like a good coffee shop should be!
